Ripple Massage announced today, in conjunction with Origin, that they would be offsetting 100% off all carbon emissions from providing massages in the South East Queensland region.

“Global warming is an issue that every Australian business should address,” said Alison Shaw, Managing Director of Ripple Massage. “If we don’t reduce greenhouse gas emissions, there is a risk that the Earth will heat to a level which could seriously affect life on our planet.

“Working with Origin, from today, Ripple Massage be a totally carbon neutral company.”

“Carbon Neutral means that we will have no net CO2 emissions. By offsetting any CO2 we do release in the running of our business, we can bring Ripple’s carbon emissions down to 0% - becoming a Carbon Neutral company.”

“In the past Ripple has always taken a responsible attitude towards the environment, such as offering refunds on all our containers to encourage recycling and minimizing our use of paper within the business.”

“It was time to take this a step further. With the help of Origin we were able to determine the amount of carbon emissions that come from us providing a massage, and then join with them in offsetting these emissions,” commented Alison Shaw.

For example, carbon emissions come from the massage therapists driving to the guests’ accommodation or home in S.E. Queensland, and electricity is used in the washing and drying of the towels. Ripple now offsets these emissions by supporting Origin programs such as accredited GreenPower and energy efficiency and other initiatives.

This will happen automatically, with the cost being absorbed by Ripple. Ripple’s guests do not have to pay extra for this offset, just be satisfied in the knowledge that their massage is having a carbon neutral effect on the environment.
